The 1st and 2nd parts are talking about food choices and workout.
In this part I wanted to talk about snacking and eating out, and the alternatives!
Drinks-
Tea- hot tea of any variety is virtually calorie free. You add the calories with the sugar you add. I always use stevia. (Read about stevia in part 1)
Lemonade- No matter how natural brands claim their lemonades are, they're full of sugar. I've concocted an alternative that is equally delicious, and refreshing
1 lemon, squeeze onto ice
3 drops stevia (1 packet)
12 ounces cold filtered water
(During the summer I created watermelon lemonade. It was to die for!)
Soda- Do not drink this. If you really need it, drink diet, or buy fizzy water and add fruits and stevia to create an equally satisfying drink!
Juice- I don't want to be extreme and suggest to make your own, but that would be ideal. Don't drink any of the store brand juices. They're made from concentrate and have additives and again have buttloads of sugar. My favorite brand of natural juice is R.W Knudsen. You can buy this at Market Street, Whole Foods, and Kroeger!
Smoothies- I don't really count this as a drink and more of a meal but whatever. Don't use frozen smoothie ""kits"" for obvious reasons. Use fresh fruit, coconut water, and a spoon of natural honey or maple syrup (read in part 1)
Coconut Water- This is probably the best drink. They make it in all flavors now, including chocolate. It taste the same as chocolate milk with less calories and fat.
I also wanted to include Almond milk. I don't suggest drinking soy because it's genetically modified and has cancerous properties. Men are not advised to consume soy in the first place. It causes loss in sperm count and low testosterone at an early age!
Snacks-
Broccoli Salad-
2-3 cups chopped, fresh broccoli
1 tomato, diced
1/2 cup honey roasted sunflower seeds
1 lemon, squeezed
1/2 cup ranch (Any ranch is fine I would suggest Newman's Own)
1/4 brick of feta cheese
Cut the tomatoes broccoli and lemon. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and enjoy♥
Beet Salad- Mentioned in Part 1
1 beet, peeled
1 carroted, peeled
1 oranged, zested and squeezed
Grate beet and carrot in a bowl. Squeeze orange and enjoy♥
Carrots and hummus- mentioned in part 1
make sure to eat the serving size on both ♥
Apple slices and almond butter-
1 apple
2 tablespoons natural almond butter
Hard Boiled eggs wrapped in natural ham-
*make sure to buy natural deli meats*
Be creative there are many healthy options!
Restaurant Tips-
-Always order water or unsweetened tea. Add your own sweetener.
-Don't pick a meal that is the combination of the following:
~bread and meat
~pasta and cheese
-When ordering a burger ask for lettuce as a bun and replace the fries with steamed veggies or a side salad
-If you're eating Italian pick a dish with a protein and replace the cream/cheese sauce with marinara. If you eat pizza also eat a side salad to counteract the carbs.
-At a fast food place order a meal with chicken opposed to beef. Don't. Eat. The. Bun
-If you're eating breakfast chose an omelette, or whole wheat pancakes. Chose fruit instead of bacon or sausage.
-Chinese food is pretty safe. Don't pick anything with a fried coating, or anything that has a thick sugary sauce. Curry is the best option if your local Chinese restaurant has them. Skip the eggrolls as well.
-Mexican food should be avoided. The safest option is fajitas. Don't eat the tortillas.
Other Tips-
-If you're a coffee drinker replace normal creamer with coconut creamer. It's 90 calories a cup versus 70 calories a tablespoon.
-Use olive oil based mayo it's healthier. (Hellman's is the best brand)
-Stop eating 3 hours before you plan on going to bed. This myth is true.
