Last year was my first time at Vans Warped Tour. I was very ignorant of my surroundings, the situation, and just the festival to be honest. For this post, I've taken my knowledge, and some research, to come up with the perfect guide on how to survive Warped Tour :~)!
1. Drink Water! -You need water ok, especially if you live in Texas like me. You'll get beat down by the sun. Make sure to bring money (at least $10.00 just for water purchases), or do like my sister and I did, and hide water in your bra. They have a free water filling station, which is super handy dandy.
2. Make sure to go with someone - Honestly, why would you not go with someone? Friends make for good fun, and they can also help you out of sticky situations.
3. Bring the "essentials" - For me, whenever I go to a show, I always bring my phone, my camera, a notebook, a pen, my makeup bag, and food. I always bring these items in a tote, or a backpack. Don't bring a purse you care about, because things are going to get thrown on it. Emily and I had to hide our food as well.
4. Bring Money! - This one is kind of a lame "rule", but bringing money is always a necessity, for merch, food, and other items.
5. Wear comfortable clothing - I made the mistake of wearing a denim skirt a tight top. DON'T DO THAT. You should wear loose fitting t-shirts, and loose fitting bottoms. Your skirt can rise, and then your panties are revealed to every scenester at the venue.
6. Wear the correct shoes - Thankfully I wore converse (puke), but don't wear flip flops or high heels (that should be a no-brainer) because your feet get stepped on, and you spill things, and its just a mess.
7. DON'T WEAR BAND T'S - You're probably thinking "ooh Zoe, why not that's the whole reason I'm going11!!!". In my honest opinion, whenever you go to any show, don't wear a band t, ESPECIALLY IF IT'S NOT THE BAND YOU'RE SEEING. I think this rule applies most to Warped Tour, because you're there to see like 8 bands, and you wear just 1 band t, it isn't courteous to the other bands, if you know what I'm saying... It's also just kind of retarded when you go to a show, and you're not even wearing a band t that applies to that show. Like you're wearing an Asking Alexandria t-shirt to a Woe, Is Me show. I've seen it, and it just makes me mad.
8. Know the schedule - There are many ways to know the schedule. I wrote down the specific bands I wanted to see, while people were taking pictures of the board, then there the few who went back and forth to the lineup board thing, to know each band. The choice is yours really.
9. Find out when the signings are - This is the key to meeting your husband ok. Last year I probably missed 6 signings because I didn't check when they were. You can purchase a map, which has all of the signing times, but I'm cheap. So.
10. Expect dirt - You can already expect it to be a big bowl of ball stew, since it's during the summer, but the extent of dirt is infinite. At my venue, there weren't any working toilets, so we had to use port-o-potty's (it was so gross), there are sweaty children flying everywhere, and if there's any rain or moisture, there's gonna be mud everywhere. Be presentable, but don't wear clothes that you care about.
11. Have fun! - Don't let anything bring you down! Even though I missed a bunch of sets, didn't pee, only ate rice krispie treats, and had warm water, it was the best day ever!!
I hoped these tips helped!♥

*I apologize that I only have band photos of Asking Alexandria, my old camera was a dick, and wouldn't work.*
